This activity will help to enhance the biodiversity and other ecosystem services of the forests ecosystems. Under this activity, planting of native tree species viz. Dipterocarpus alatus, Schima wallichii, Hopea odorata, Gmelina arborea, etc will be carried out during the project period appropriately. Planting activity will be planned in accordance with the site characteristics as well as the technology to be applied. Wherever possible, manual labor from local is used to conduct different activities of tree planting ensuring additional employment opportunities for the local people in the Southern region of Lao PDR covering an area of 308 Ha with over 18 villages.  Assuming the project activities can properly reduce the deforestation rate by 5% in year one compared to the historical deforestation rate with outer belt and gradually increasing to 70% within 30 years of the project period.  *Note : this eligible ARR area have been non-forest areas for 10 years prior to the project start date * #### Before
