The forest parks in Mae Hong Son province are situated within Chiang Mai Forest Industry Organization. There are a total of 3 forest parks:
1. Mae Umlong Forest Park, Mae Lan Noi District, Mae Lan Noi District, Mae Hong Son Province: Located within the Mae Yawm Left Bank and Mae Yawm Right Bank National Forest Reserve, covering a total area of 5,197.36 rai. The vegetation is primarily teak plantations, and the terrain is characterized by steep mountains with an elevation of 300 meters above sea level. The area experiences low humidity and occasional summer storms.
2. Mae Ukor Forest Park, Huai Pha District, Mueang District, Mae Hong Son Province: Situated within the lower part of the Mae Pai Right Bank National Forest Reserve, covering a total area of 1,995.14 rai. The terrain is mostly steep, and the forest is rich in biodiversity, with several vegetation composed of teak, eucalyptus, and pine trees. It serves as the source of several streams and rivers.
3. Salawin Forest Park, Pa Pae District, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province: Covering a total area of 4,464.60 rai, the Salawin Forest Park is scattered across 4 subdistricts and the vegetation is entirely teak plantations.
The project activities align with the eligible activities defined by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) in T-VER-S-METH-13-03. Proper management practices have been implemented, including creating wider firebreaks in steep areas, pruning to improve stem quality, thinning to reduce tree density, and patrolling to prevent and protect the forest from encroachment.
Remarks : No trees will be cut down within the project area for the entire 10-year duration of the project.
